Event: Visit to Romans and Natives in the Lune Gorge

The visit starts with an overview of the Low Borrowbridge Roman Fort then a drive past the fort on Fairmile Road, to visit the High Carlingill ‘native’ Settlement. It was excavated by the Lunesdale Archaeology Society in 2018 – 2019. Then to see a burial cairn and a section of the Roman Road not underneath Fairmile Road.

Instructions: Meet at the M6 Viewpoint (A685) at 10:00am and then drive under the M6 past the Fort and along Fairmile Road to High Carlingill Farm and then onwards back to Sedbergh.
