Event: The Romans at Carlisle Cricket Club

In his talk about the amazing archaeological finds at Carlisle Cricket Club, Andrew Wallis will consider the city’s military, civilian and strategic importance, its relationship with Hadrian’s Wall, and the surrounding region. Andrew will explain the dig that uncovered one of the most significant Roman sites in the UK. Excavations have revealed a massive, 3rd-century Roman bathhouse which is believed to be the largest building on Hadrian’s Wall and there have been over 1,000 priceless artifacts.
