Leslie Gilpin is a man of many talents. Chairman of Cumberland and Westmorland History Federation and a lifelong rail enthusiast, he is also well qualified to tell the story of the Cark Cotton Company and the cotton mill at Cark-in-Cartmel. The talk will explore the development of this local industrial enterprise, its place within the wider history of textile production, and the people, buildings and communities connected with the mill.
