Event: Cumbria and the Transatlantic Slave Trade

This meeting will be held in Dent Memorial Hall which is in the centre of Dent village, opposite the car park. Rob David will examine the evidence for Cumbria’s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. The talk will consider how slavery and its profits touched places far from the major ports, and how local records, buildings, families and memorials can help us understand and remember this difficult history.
