Sedbergh & District History Society has a large and growing archive of maps, books, documents, photos etc. concerning the local community and it’s history. This on-line catalogue gives you a means of finding information about items that may interest you.

There should be a catalogue record for every item in the archive. Some items, such as digital photographs and sound recordings may not have a physical existence, and are only ‘on-line’.

Each catalogue record has a Description of the item, and its Format (map, book, photo etc). The person who catalogued the item may also have recorded a Subject, Place and Date for the item, but not all records have these.

Some records include digital images of the documents or photos they describe. As the Society is planning to digitise much of its collection, more of these will become available on-line through the catalogue in the future.

Our new archives catalogue system is thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Cumbria Local History Federation (CLHF), who is providing a database to every one of their societies who would like one. This archives catalogue project has been made possible due to generous grants given to the CLHF from the Westmorland Dales and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
